Flea market in Oberursels Altstadt-Höfen on 7 September: residents open their doors for the third time
The flea market in Oberursels Altstadt-Höfen has not only been very well received by visitors in the last two years, but the residents of the old town were also enthusiastic and will now again open their courtyards for the Old Town flea market on Saturday, 7 September 2019, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. This year, more than 78 house communities are taking part in the flea market!
Initiator and local resident Antje Runge is delighted with the high number of registrations: "The special thing is that this is a private flea market, where we as neighbours come together to exchange ideas, to plan and to sell, and thus cultivate the sense of unity in the old town. We have a great neighbourly atmosphere and appreciate the relaxed atmosphere during the flea market."
With great commitment to the old town, its residents open the otherwise closed gates and grant a view into hidden corners and angles. The city of Oberursel (Taunus) as a cooperation partner of the initiative is also committed to this unique event format. The business division Culture, Society and Economy is pleased to be able to show all guests and visitors Oberursel in a completely different way! The unique atmosphere of Oberursel's old town, its history and picturesque architecture with its centuries-old half-timbered houses can be felt everywhere.
At the flea market in the old town courtyards, everyone can search for special features in the idyllic lanes: Antiques and collector's items of all kinds, dolls and bears, pictures and graphics, books and records, cupboards and pots, grandma's whitewash up to children's toys and clothes are offered for bargaining, trading and buying. Some dusty "stuff" has turned out to be a valuable gem. Looking is always worthwhile: A flyer, which is available in the courtyards, helps to find all the farms involved.
Also institutions of the city Oberursel (Taunus) join the old town flea market. The "Old Hospital" senior citizens' meeting place in the Hospitalstraße is taking part with a flea market stand, the Stadtbücherei on the market square is organising its book and novel flea market on this day from 10 am to 1 pm. The traditional weekly market, also to be found on the historical market square, offers fresh goods from the region between 7 and 14 o'clock.
The origins of the old town can also be experienced this Saturday in the Vortaunus Museum directly on the old market square from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum itself is also represented with a flea market stand. A special highlight is the view from the tower of the St. Ursula church with access to the tower room and the bell chamber from 15 to 17 o'clock. The entrance fee is 2 Euro for adults and 1 Euro for children.
The participating house communities and the town of Oberursel (Taunus) cordially invite you to visit the flea market in the old town courtyards.
"I am delighted that so many citizens are taking part and are depicting the beauty of our wonderful old town in a completely different way. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all those involved", said Mayor Hans-Georg Brum.
